OUR STORY

Having a family of 3 kids and being involved in Childcare services for over 20 years in different countries, it has always been our passion to contribute to skill development of children through playing, learning and growing together. I (Humera Maryam) started my first nursery for my daughters and their friends in my home. My passion for child care started from there. My eldest daughter (Ayesha Maryam) has completed her Masters in Childhood Education and Early Years from Leeds Beckett University, UK. She is an integral part of the Streetsville Children's Centre management team, over looking day to day operations.

We are a family business and each and every staff of SCC is an extended family member. We work as a team to supplement and complement each other to ensure satisfaction for all stakeholders – Parents, Children, Staff and the Ministry.

Our vision is to make Streetsville Children's Centre a “home away from home” where Parents can bring their children, an environment with trained and caring staff who nurture and grow children to their full potential.

We will continue to provide quality education and childcare in the Region of Peel to support many families as they grow.

WHY US?

The decision to go to work and choose a caregiver for our most precious cargo is a hard one. Streetsville Children's Centre takes this responsibility very seriously, and we look out for the welfare of each child daily.

01

Convenient Hours of Operation

We are open 7.30 am- 5.30 pm with limited closures.

02

Flexible Options for Care

Except for infants (only full time), we offer the option of 2 or 3 days weekly, as well as full time care (based on availability).

03

Trained Staff

The staff in our classrooms are either Registered Early Childhood Educators or a Certified Educational Assistant. All SCC staff are required to attend a minimum of 8 hrs of continuing education sessions through the year to keep abreast of any changing ideas in childcare.

04

Educational and Fun

Wings of Discovery is a comprehensive discovery-based program for young children (infant to age 5) It builds life skills, self-esteem and inspires discovery by engaging a child's innate curiosity about how the world works.

05

Nutrition

We provide breakfast from 7.30 am to 8:30am each day, a balanced hot lunch every day, and an afternoon snack. We are able to accommodate any allergy or religious requirement for the meals as well. Learn more.

06

Licensed Centre

Streetsville Children's Centre is a licensed childcare centre and we are required to follow the standards of the Ministry of Education. As well, we work beyond those requirements of the Ministry and voluntarily work in the Raising the Bar Program with the Region of Peel. This is a program that supports us in providing program options above the Ministry standards.

07

Daily Communication

All communication and pictures are sent throughout the day on our Lillio ( previously known as HiMama) app directly to parents emails so there is easy access to the information and easy communication with their child’s educators.

08

Other Services / Disabilities

We have experience managing support services for clients with special needs. We can utilize their services when we have assessed a need. We are very experienced in working with other Region Services and private services.

Humera Maryam

Executive Director/Owner

I have been associated with academics and kids’ education field for over two decades. Over the past twenty years, I have had the opportunity to work in different regions and cater to kids in India, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Canada. I had my first opportunity in [1995] as a volunteer teacher in a special needs school program. Eventually, in 2012 I opened my first day care in Canada, and in a span of two years we opened multiple locations. However, in 2016 my kids were in a pivotal stage of their lives and needed the right support system to progress to the next stage in their lives. Therefore, in 2016, I decided to prioritize spending time with my family and decided to sell my shares in those day cares.

Community service is my passion. From a young age I was exposed to the adversities of life and understood how supporting and helping one another can have a positive impact in society. I am involved in Community wellness programs and take an active role in various food banks, volunteering work, collection and dispatch of relief material for victims of war and/or natural calamities, and an Alumni Association of the University. In 2014, I was presented with the Certificate of Recognition by Character Community Foundation, York Region for my contribution to in community services.

My aim is to make Streetsville Children's Centre feel like a home away from home for all the kids who are in the centre. My team and I will work tirelessly and to our level best to make sure your kids are happy, comfortable, and feel at home at Streetsville Children's Centre.

Ayesha Maryam

Executive Director

I have recently completed my Master’s in Early Years and Childhood Education from Leeds Beckett University, a well established and recognised university in the United Kingdom. Prior to completing my masters, I graduated from York University with Honors in Economics & Finance in 2015. In addition to my background in finance and degree in children’s education, I was a full-time teacher at a private British school in Qatar for two years and worked in various daycares in Canada. Teaching has always been my passion, I had started working with young kids since the age of 14, through various different roles like reading buddy, or a mentor in public speaking and summer camps.

As a mother of three young children, I am striving to learn how we can have a positive impact on our children and understanding how we can raise them in the right environment. In this fast-evolving world, I always try to adapt and implement the best “new” methods to help them excel and grow into respectful and contributing young adults.

I have joined this venture with my mom (Humera Maryam) and I look forward to providing the right environment for your child’s growth and bringing new ideas and opportunities to further enhance our Streetsville Children's Centre families’ experience.
